In a heartwarming scene, Senior Minister of State for Defence Zaqy Mohamad expressed relief as he welcomed Singaporeans back home after a recent repatriation mission. His sentiments were shared right before the first group of passengers disembarked from their flights, reuniting with families and loved ones.

Minister Zaqy extended his gratitude to the Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) team for their dedicated efforts in bringing Singaporeans and their dependents back safely. “When called upon, they showed courage, fully aware that their mission could place them at risk. I commend their bravery, as they embarked on this task without a moment’s hesitation,” he remarked. “It was imperative for us to do this; bringing Singaporeans home is our responsibility.”

According to the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF), the airspace in Saudi Arabia remained accessible and all necessary diplomatic permissions were obtained to facilitate the repatriation flights. The deployment of the aircraft was specifically aimed at supporting these assisted departure operations.

Over the recent weekend, Singapore executed two repatriation flights from Muscat, Oman. These flights, operated by Singapore Airlines, successfully returned citizens from Oman and the United Arab Emirates—regions where approximately 60% of Singaporeans e-registered with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs are currently residing.
