Actor and Family Charged After Mall Brawl in Malaysia
A recent incident in Malaysia has led to a Singaporean actor and a family of three facing charges after a public altercation at a shopping mall in Johor Bahru. The event, which occurred on December 24, has attracted significant attention online due to its chaotic nature and the involvement of a local celebrity.
The Brawl Unfolds
The confrontation began in a shopping center located on Jalan Serigala, where video footage captured the altercation, showing the participants throwing punches and inadvertently damaging store signage. Reports indicate that the dispute arose after one of the actor’s wife confronted another individual for spilling beer on her.
Escalation at the Police Station
Things escalated quickly. Later that day, as one suspect was filing a police report at the Larkin police station, he was attacked by the other individual involved in the earlier incident, resulting in a second fight.
Following the brawl, both men required medical attention and were treated for minor injuries at Sultanah Aminah Hospital.
Court Proceedings
Actor P. Suresh, aged 46, accepted a guilty plea for intentionally causing harm to businessman Chua Chin Heng, 56, during the mall altercation. Chua, alongside his wife Loe Sou Peng, 55, and their son Axl Chua Kai Jun, 27, pleaded not guilty to the charges against them.
If found guilty, the family could face penalties of up to one year in prison, fines reaching RM2,000, or both. The court granted the family conditional bail of RM5,000 each and scheduled the next court hearing for January 27, 2026.
Further Charges and Penalties
Suresh was also jointly charged with Chua for their subsequent fight at the police station. While Suresh pleaded guilty again, Chua maintained his not guilty plea. This offense carries a maximum sentence of six months in prison or a fine of up to RM500. The court imposed a fine of RM400 on Suresh, who also received an alternative sentence of one month’s imprisonment if he fails to pay the fine.
