A Serene Home Embracing Nature and Collaboration
Infused with a resort-like atmosphere, this remarkable home features stunning elements such as a grotto-inspired water feature in the garden, a sunlit master bathroom, expansive living and dining areas, and a tranquil master bedroom. Such meticulous design elevates both comfort and style, making it a unique living space.
A MEETING OF MINDS
On a visit in mid-January, the refreshing breezes flowing through the living areas accentuated the home’s elevated position. This prime location provides sweeping views over the nearby low-rise buildings and lush parkland.
Lead architect Quek shared insights on the collaborative process that shaped the project: “We enjoyed a great synergy. The client contributed numerous ideas regarding color schemes, materials, and the overall ambiance. Our role was to create expansive double-volume spaces that she could personalize.”
The partnership proved fruitful, as Quek noted the open-mindedness of the client. “They were receptive to suggestions and eager to explore different options.” This dynamic allowed the couple to express their thoughts, leading to alternatives that further enhanced the project’s vision.
Working with the Arsea Group, a contractor collaborating with RT+Q for the first time, added another level of creativity. Quek explained that more experienced builders often come with “baggage” regarding conventional construction methods. In contrast, newer builders offer a refreshing perspective, enabling experimentation and innovation throughout the process.
The final design represents a harmonious blend of ideas from the architect, client, and builder. One of the key challenges faced was the trapezoidal plot of land, which RT+Q skillfully transformed into a house characterized by an angular footprint that creates a broad facade while tapering elegantly towards the back.
