The fire occurred in a single-storey facility located in Manado, part of North Sulawesi Province. North Sulawesi police spokesperson Alamsyah Hasibuan confirmed the grim toll, stating, “The team on the ground has confirmed that the death toll currently is 16. Fifteen of them were burned to death, while one victim’s body remains intact.”

In the wake of the fire, 15 survivors were rushed to two hospitals in the area for urgent medical treatment. Authorities reported that the bodies of the victims have been transported to a local hospital, where identification efforts are being made with the support of family members.
