Author Faces Charges Over Controversial Novel

A troubling case has emerged involving an author and their recently published novel, which has sparked outrage and legal scrutiny. The individual, known as Mastrosa, 34, released an early version of the book under the pseudonym Tori Woods to a select group of 21 readers in March of the previous year. This early release was followed by a police complaint regarding the book’s alarming content.

Chisholm, who read the entire novel, described the material as “undeniably offensive” to any reasonable reader. The book’s striking pastel pink cover, adorned with a title designed to resemble children’s alphabet blocks, starkly contrasts with its troubling narrative.

The story features a protagonist who employs simplistic, child-like language, wears clothing typically associated with children, and exhibits behaviors often found in younger individuals. Chisholm expressed concerns that references to the character’s age—indicated as 18—are inadequate to dispel the impression that she behaves like a child.

“Importantly, those descriptions and language are used in the portions of the book to describe a character similar to a young child when sexual activity is occurring,” Chisholm explained, as reported by sources. “The reader is left with a description that creates the visual image in one’s mind of an adult male engaging in sexual activity with a young child.”

Legal Proceedings

Mastrosa was subsequently found guilty of one count each of creating, possessing, and distributing child abuse material. The author is scheduled to appear in court again for sentencing on April 28.

In light of the charges, BaptistCare, where Mastrosa was employed, has indicated that she has been suspended from her position while an investigation is underway.
