Sailing club director Ho Kah Soon pointed to several key factors that make this area particularly suited for these activities: its accessibility, favorable wind patterns, and the absence of heavy shipping routes.
“Facing the open Singapore Strait and the South China Sea, the east coast enjoys a clear wind path,” stated Mr. Ho of the Constant Wind Sea Sports Centre. “The coastline from Changi to Marina Bay is relatively unobstructed, allowing the wind to flow smoothly over the water with minimal turbulence, which is often a problem near dense urban areas.”
He further explained that unlike the northern waters, which are sheltered by Johor, or the industrially impacted western regions, the eastern seaboard benefits from cleaner, more consistent air currents, making it an excellent choice for sailing enthusiasts.
